The conference « Cultures in Transit » will be held at the University of Lyon on the 4th, 5th and 6th June 2009. It is the second in a series of a collaborative scientific project initiated by Lyon 3 University and Liverpool Hope University, which the inaugural conference took place in Liverpool in July 2008.
As a continuation of the discussions and debates initiated during the inaugural conference in Liverpool, we particularly encourage contributions which address the articulation of, on the one hand, a citizenship implying a certain territorialisation of the political experience, inscribed in a relatively long period, in a common social space (institutional practices, language, common public space…) and, on the other, the historical reality (and without doubt the becoming) of migration movements which entail unceasing cultural dislocations and permanent hybridisation.
• Discourses and representations of migrants
• Citizenship and minorities
• Cultural hybridity and national histories
• Reinvention of diasporic identities and cultures
• Cultural policies and (im)migrations
